Victor Harbor Quarries is located at 155 Inman Valley Rd on Porters Hill, approximately 3km from the township of Victor Harbor. The site covers approximately 40 ha, of which approximately 10 ha is devoted to extraction.

Victor Harbor Quarry site has been worked intermittently by the district council of Victor Harbor since the early 1900's. in 1958 the quarry was purchased and operated by by the Wayne Brothers. In 1969 the quarry was purchased by Messrs J.M Kirkham and R.B Davis and operated as Victor Harbor Quarries. The Current crushing plant was subsequently installed and operated by them. in 1989 CSR Readymix purchased the rights to lease quarry operations from Messrs Kirkham and Davis. Over the years the lease has been transferred between other corporate companies before the rights were purchased in December 2015 by the Thorpe family. from Holcim and is now run as Victor Harbor Quarries.

The Victor Harbor Quarry site occurs in the Kanmantoo Group, which extends from Kangaroo Island to the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges. The rock is comprised generally of dark grey, fine to medium grained Schists to Greywakes with Quartz veining quite common throughout. The rock is weakly foliated but has more strongly foliated micaceous interbeds.

The extraction of materials is done using traditional drill and blast methods. After the removal of topsoil and overburden, quarry faces are drilled , explosives placed in the holes and blast detonated. Blasted materials are then loaded by excavator into a mobile crushing plant.

Our objective is to provide quality products to the construction industry. We want to been seen as a community based business and we strive to support local business. We look to use businesses in the area to help grow the community and support our need at Victor Harbor Quarries. We have already engaged with local business and are always looking to support more.
